The Global Warming "Conspiracy" and McDonaldgate: response to interview with Charlie

Ha! So the take away point: I'm interviewing a lawyer suing ExxonMobil in Kivalina vs. ExxonMobil and others, if you would like me to ask him a certain question, post a comment at www.emissionimpossible.tv, youtube or email at emissionimpossibletv@gmail.com.
Thanks and Go Habs Go,

  1. I found you through Charlie's site, as well, and I'm glad I did! Thanks for at least taking a stand on something. I have a feeling that most of those who could only seem to find fault with you do more sitting around and whining about how others aren't doing it right, than they do getting up and doing it themselves. People need to be stimulated to *think* more, and that's exactly what documentaries like yours do. So rock on! :)

By making that joke about you eating at McDonalds and having your stomach pumped I did out of humor, and to discourage you from eating there again that's the truth. this is the very same method your using to get everyone aware about whats happening to our environment keep up the good work! nobody is perfect.

    Ciao Bella!

  3. I love the Quebecois. Lived and did all my training in Montreal so don't think all us silly Americans hate what your doing.
I guess my main question for the BP lawyer is why was the price of oil raised after the spill?
    http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/gas-prices-rise-after-spill-despite-weak-demand/19462198/

Although I'm sure he will say BP has nothing to do with it.
Another question is why are they using highly toxic dispersants when there are more effective, safer alternatives?
It almost seems as if they want to use this stuff to sink the spill down to where it can't be seen, but where it will cause more damage. This seems as if they are just buying time so they can organize a legal defense and weasel out of it six months down the line...

  4. Hi,
I admire your desire to change things, but in this video your claim that the science is settled about global warming which is not true.Read http://climateaudit.org/ and other websites which present other views then what you can find in mainstream media.
There is so much data out there that contradicts with supposedly settled theory. Just ask your self why a corrupt politician like Al Gore is a leader of the movement and what exactly is he doing to change anything. Him and his compardes just wants us to pay more taxes and also buy from their "clean"energy companies. He is in it only for the money and unfortunately mainstream media is just following all the madness. there is many environmental problems in the world (food industry is one of the worst culprits- read "Omnivore's dilemma"), but natural gas like Co2 is not one of them. Read an excellent fiction book called "State of fear" by late Michael Crichton. Even though its a fictional story it is based on 3 years of extensive research in climate change and other environmental problems with a great author's essay at the end. Can you say that you have done that amount of research before you came to your conclusions or was it the mainstream media that gave you your current thoughts. You have to keep and open mind and continue searching for truth. Taking a scientific dogma for truth without doing your on research is dangerous. Wish you all the best. Vedran

  5. Dear Vedran,

I am no expert myself but I did spend one year immersed in the studies of representation of climate change in the media ( I suggest googling Balance as Bias, an article by the Boykoff brothers, you can get a pdf online) as well as the connections between climate change and human psychology and behavior and I cannot say that I fully disagree with you. A lot of people will try to profit for the clean technology boom - but still isn't it a better thing to end up with rich people getting richer from clean energy than from offshore drilling and massive oil spills that destroy ecosystems and peoples' livelihoods? A LOT of organizations, including governmenst, try to communicate climate change through fear...t's a BAD IDEA but an explainable one since climate change IS quite scary and humans often (but not only) do react to fear (think lion and the motivation of running dear for your life). But still, that only speaks to our very poor ability to communicate effectively on climate change rather than whether it exists or not. Keeping an open mind and searching for truth is the basis of the Emission Impossible project and my very preliminary conclusion is this: climate change is a scientifically proven fact. the extent of how damaging it will be and exactly where is not yet fully known (but check out Tuvalu and Kivalina and you get a peak preview). What we do know is that we are not dealing with it really well (along with other related environmental and social issues) and we're terrible at having nice, fun, respectful, constructive dialogue. So on this cheerful note, I thank you for your comment. While on the whole I disagree with you, I really appreciate your honesty and desire to engage in an open discussion.
    Ciao! K

  6. Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I will have a look at the articles you have suggested and I am hoping that you will read that book by Michael Crichton, because it will give you a bit of a different perspective on the environmental issues. You seem to be in the same game as a mainstream media of convincing people that climate change is caused by mankind and that we should pay for it. Earth system is much more complex then that and it's climate is mostly influenced by sun. There is no doubt about that, because what happens on the sun directly influences climate on earth (sunspots, solar winds etc.). That's why we had little ice age and warm medieval period, which are both very well documented. Nations all around the world flourished during the warm medieval period and average temperature was higher then what we have today. Climate has always been changing and it always will, like anything else in the nature. 90% of species that were ever present in the nature were extinct before industrial revolution. You are making your preliminary conclusion that man made climate change is scientifically proven fact, that doesn't sound to me like searching for the truth, but more like accepting the official dogma. I begin my research after seeing Al Gore's "Inconvenient truth", which I found very disappointing because it was focused mostly on him as a lonely hero who is fighting this cause on our behalf. That movie is full of errors and alarmists propaganda. The famous "hockey stick" which is a central part of the movie is now overwhelmingly disputed by scientists because the graph doesn't include warm medieval period and the data used for it is incomplete. I wouldn't take as truth anything that government tells me, simply because they are lying to us constantly. I have friends who are scientists and in private that would agree with my views on climate change, but they can't say it publicly otherwise they will lose their grants. There is so many other real problems that we should be tackling instead of wasting our money on cutting carbon emissions. The industrial food industry is causing so much damage in the nature, but you don't see anybody talking about it. It is directly related to massive increase in cancers and hearth diseases that we see in western world. We are all eating a lot of processed food, which is made with so much energy waste. The book that I mentioned in previous post " Omnivore's dilemma" is a great resource for that particular issue.
I don't have time now to write any more.
Looking forward to your reply. Peace,
    Vedran

  7. You're a cool girl. May the force be with you!
The climate change is a scientific fact, for thousands of years now. The Greenland is called this way because about 1000 A.D the lemons grew there. Ceratainly the bonfires of the Vikings were not the cause for that. So please don't put your effort to fight with a lie that somebody is trying to make us belive and make a huge money on it( 1% of wold PKB, about 20 billion dollars).
The polution is fine to fight with, so keep up the good work.
    Best
    Kamil
