Dear Blogger Followers: the End of an Era

Dear friends,

The end of my blogger era is already coming. I will be graduating to wordpress in order to create something more "websity" rather than my current random storytelling in reversed chronological order. The change will occur next Monday June 21st.

Chances that the “followers” function from blogger won’t move to wordpress. I don’t want to loose you! Please follow me on wordpress! The domain name will still be www.emissionimpossible.tv.

Looking forward to your visit to my new “house” :)

Ranting during interview breaks in California

Hello,

Just getting over a pretty potent case of jetlag after California. It started quite roughly when my volunteer cameraman dislocated his shoulder on the eve of my arrival making me the driver - researcher - secretary - interviewer - sound person AND cameraman for the 12 interviews I ended up doing...

I met incredibly good people...and as soon as I can figure out how to edit the @##$%$?%?* footage in a #$%?*## expensive and fancy editing software, I will post some interview teasers. In the meantime, here’s a good old imovie edited flip filmed ranting session when my interviewee Carter Brooks turned the camera on me during break time...

Countdown to first round of interviews in California

I don't have too much time to write as I am now officially on bridesmaid duty for my cousin's wedding in L.A. The last few weeks have been hectic running around, organizing and getting equipment I knew nothing about a month ago. I interviewed Matt Pawa, the 'Erin Brokovich of climate change' in his garden last Sunday whilst a little rabbit hopped around in his backyard. I felt like I was in the presence of a real life hero.
I start interviewing professors, entrepreneurs and investors next week in Northern California, wish me luck!

The Global Warming "Conspiracy" and McDonaldgate: response to interview with Charlie

Ha! So the take away point: I'm interviewing a lawyer suing ExxonMobil in Kivalina vs. ExxonMobil and others, if you would like me to ask him a certain question, post a comment at www.emissionimpossible.tv, youtube or email at emissionimpossibletv@gmail.com.
Thanks and Go Habs Go,

the Love Police and the McDonald confession

It's my kind of karma that the once in a year occasion that I am hungry and late enough to ditch all my beloved principles for a quick nasty McDonald chicken sandwich I get interviewed about it the same day... oh well.

Anyway, here is my first official interview by the Love Police. I'm a bit traumatized by the youtube comments on the video (1) Climate change is very real. 2) I do NOT have a unibrow), but thanks to Charlie for bringing me all these new friends (hi guys!).
Ok, back to getting equipment and interviews ready for California...

Ciao!

Admin, randomness and selling my clothes for funding

So, unfortunately, I've had no time to make a video this week as I spent it all on administrative duties, documentary workshops where I learned that my career prospects include severe starvation and got me dizzy with all the techie details about camera specs. I've also had to sort which ones of my shirts I will be selling to fund my documentary trip to California - for real. Under duress, I've also decide to turn my hobbies into a micro-documentary funding venture by going to sell my handcrafted (recycled / sustainably produced of course) vintage charms along with my clothes at the Hackney Wick Flea Market. Told you it was random...
Have a good week-end!

Tar sands exploitation Redux

After I posted my little Boo BP rant last week, my environmentally-versed friends pointed out that tar sands exploitation was NOT like extracting oil from cement. True, I was trying to invent a figure of speech akin to "drawing blood from a stone". But, just in case my English-as-a-second-language creativity would damage my credibility, I have tried to describe the process more accurately:

Friday Procrastination and the BP Tar Sands Resolution

So, my disappointment at BP shareholders failing to vote in favor of transparency for one of the most polluting operation in the world and my lack of work concentration on this sunny Friday afternoon spurred an infantile (and slightly scatological) tune... ... ah, well at least I got a good laugh out of it!

Mission to California

So yesterday I pitched the Emission Impossible documentary at the Green Drinks in London and managed not to fall from the stool or otherwise look like too much of a fool. It was really invigorating to witness peoples' enthusiasm about the project.

Anywho, first step: start with the solutions...

Emission(s) Impossible: It's a start...

Someone somewhat famous said that if you have a crazy project, you should tell as many people as possible about it so that you'll definitely do it to avoid the social shame next time you see them and they mention it. So there: I am making a documentary. I am making a documentary. I am making a documentary.

Although it's about climate change, it WILL NOT be your typical depressing guilt-ridden movie about environmental destruction. It will be fun. It will be relevant to ordinary people.

Until that happens, this blog will document my own trials and tribulations of putting this project together.

So here I start with a video of me practicing my pitch to prospective contributors and investors in the dark at an Earth Hour party. The annoying little buzzing sound is my dynamo powered torch...

There. It's a start. Enjoy.
